Allegations & Misconduct Policy

This policy sets out how Elevate&Co Education handles allegations of misconduct made against tutors, staff, or volunteers who work with children through our organisation.

Purpose

To ensure that all allegations are dealt with fairly, consistently, and promptly, while protecting the welfare of children and treating all those involved fairly.

What Counts as an Allegation

An allegation may be made when a tutor or staff member is alleged to have behaved in a way that has harmed or may have harmed a child, possibly committed a criminal offence against or related to a child, or behaved in a way that indicates they may not be suitable to work with children.

How to Report

Any allegation must be reported to the Designated Safeguarding Lead immediately. If the allegation is against the DSL, it must be reported to the most senior person in the organisation without delay.

Investigation

Elevate&Co will follow the guidance of the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) throughout any investigation. The person subject to the allegation will be informed as soon as reasonably possible, subject to advice from the LADO or police.

Confidentiality

All parties involved in an allegation are entitled to confidentiality. Information will only be shared as required by law or with relevant statutory authorities.

Outcome

At the conclusion of an investigation, outcomes will be communicated appropriately. Where required, referral to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) will be made.

Record Keeping

All allegations and their outcomes are recorded securely, even where an allegation is found to be unsubstantiated. Records are retained in line with statutory guidance.
